What is the difference between resin and epoxy resin?

Resin is a broad term covering many different types of resin systems. Epoxy resin is one specific type of resin known for its strong adhesion, durability, clarity and relatively low shrinkage during curing.

For example, polyester resin, polyurethane resin and epoxy resin are all different resin systems with different properties.
